Matthew Lawrence opens up about a terrifying experience from being involved with an Oscar-winning film director.
During the latest episode of his Brotherly Love podcast, Lawrence recalled being offered a role in a Marvel production but only if she stripped.
“There have been many times in my life where I have been propositioned to get a big role,” Lawrence said. “I lost the agency because I went to the hotel room, which I couldn’t believe they would send me, a very prominent Oscar award-winning director showed up in his robe, asked me to take off my clothes. and said he had to get me some Polaroids.”
Lawrence added, “And if I do X, Y and Z, I’m the next Marvel character. I didn’t do that, and my agency fired me because I left this director’s room.”
The actor did not reveal any names or give the dates when this encounter took place. Lawrence also mentioned the double standard that exists when male actors talk about sexual harassment against female actors.
“Terry Crews comes out and says this; people make fun of him. People don’t support him,” he said. “They fire him. Why? Because he’s a man who represents masculinity, and I think our society is men are less ready to hear that situation than women.”
He continued, “Not a lot of guys in my opinion have come out and talked about this in the industry. There is also this situation. Now granted, this is probably about a third of what women go through. A lot of men… Men experience it too, be it women or other men with power.”
