Following a tease from Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon, rumors of Mortal Kombat 12 have begun to circulate before any official announcement from Netherrealm Studios.
A few days ago, Boon posted a short video of a ticking clock on Twitter counting down to something, and that something was definitely Mortal Kombat 12. The clock almost reached the 12th hour before an explosion jumped ahead to get to “1.”
Now, another Twitter account linked to past PSN leaks, @billbil_kun, says the next grizzly fighter is titled Mortal Kombat 1, which makes the “1” in Boon’s video seem even more significant.
As you’ll notice, the game will only be available for Next-Gen consoles (while Nintendo Switch is included)
Comes in 3 editions:
– Standards
– Premium
– Kollector’s Edition (Physical only, not available for Nintendo Switch)The announcement should be coming soon

“The next Mortal Kombat game from NetherRealm Studios / WB Games will be called: Mortal Kombat 1,” wrote @ billbil_kun, followed by a bulleted list of details:
- “PC, PS5, Xbox Series S|X, Nintendo Switch
- Standard: 69.99$ (PS5, XB) / 59.99$ (SW)
- Premium: 109.99$
- Collector: 249.99$ (PS5, XB)”
The tweets also noted an official announcement that “should be near,” and that the game will only be for this generation of consoles. There’s also no Kollector’s Edition available for Switch, and the expensive package will only have a physical release.
Whether or not the “1” is official Mortal Kombat videos actually means something–like a reboot–remains unknown, as official channels are limited to teasers. Once the rumors surfaced, Boon denied the claims from the leakers, followed by another tweet highlighting a video from @unCAGEDgamez that “debunked the rumors.”
Great video by @unCAGEDgamez shooting down the rumors!https://t.co/rGGULDDzvf

Details like pricepoint, platform, and title may be easier to glean from a glance, but the first “reveal” of Mortal Kombat 12 remains more surprising. Last February, news that Netherrealm was planning another Mortal Kombat this year broke during an earnings call on a A Warner Brothers executive mentioned the title by name.
It’s been four years since Netherrealm released Mortal Kombat 11, though recent teases have lined up a bigger milestone celebrating the series’ 30th anniversary. The studio also mentioned that it’s working on another project, so here goes MK11 DLC support endedthough Netherrealm hasn’t announced what that project is.
