(CNN) artist Melissa Joan Hart he said he will be close to Nashville’s Covenant School after Monday fatal shooting of six peopleincluding three children, and helped several students get away from the scene.
“My kids go to school right next to a school where there was a shooting today,” Hart said in a Instagram videos posted on Tuesday. Hart said he waited a day to release the video because it was “too raw to post” the day of the shooting.
“We assisted a class of kindergartners on a busy highway going up through the woods, trying to escape a shooter situation at their school,” Hart said.
“We helped all these little little … kids cross the street and get their teachers there, and we helped a mother reunite with her children.”
Hart is best known for her work as a child actor, starring in the sitcoms “Clarissa Explains It All” and “Sabrina the Teenage Witch.” She said her own children’s school did not hold classes Monday because of previously scheduled parent-teacher conferences.
Hart said this isn’t the first time his family has been close to a school shooting. “We moved here from Connecticut, where we were at a school that was quite far away Sandy Hook,” he said, referring to the 2012 elementary school massacre that killed 20 children and six adults.
“I don’t know what to say. It is just, enough is enough.”
The attack in Nashville took place early Monday morning at the private Christian elementary school, when a heavily armed gunman fired through the glass doors to gain access and killed three 9-year-old students and three adult before he was shot by the police.
This is the deadliest school shooting in the US in nearly a year and is the 19th shooting at a school or university so far in 2023 that has left at least one person injured, a CNN count shows.
