After jumping through a few hoops, there’s Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp finally launched on Nintendo Switch. As exciting as this is for many fans of the series, it’s probably even more exciting for the development team.
WayForward director James Montagna, who worked with Nintendo on the “reimagined” version of the classic turn-based strategy series, took to social media to acknowledge the fact that his “lifetime dream” is completely came true – calling it “the most anticipated, surreal, and exciting day”, while simultaneously thanking his team and the fans of the game.
James Montagna: I had the honor of developing Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp with Nintendo!
Today, my dream in life has come true. But my team and our friends at Nintendo whose efforts I must recognize for this fact. On behalf of all of us, please enjoy Advance Wars!
Wow, I can’t answer everything but thank you!! It was simultaneously the most anticipated, surreal, and exciting day of my life
Montagna also mentioned how he can’t say much more about the game, and “can’t really answer questions”, which isn’t all that surprising considering it’s a first-party Nintendo release. On the plus side, the team at WayForward celebrated this special occasion with a suitably themed cake:
This updated Advance Wars release includes two-games-one and includes 3D graphics, voiceovers, online play, and many other improvements. In our Nintendo Life, we awarded the Switch release an ‘excellent’ 9 out of 10 stars – calling it a delightful reimagining.
