Florida Gov. hit. Ron DeSantis is California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom following their debate, saying conservatives won’t think liberal policies work.
DeSantis, a GOP presidential hopeful, made the comments at a campaign rally Saturday in Sioux City, Iowa.
“And one of my thoughts is, it’s like what the left is doing in this country, what people are helping the media do, they’re just trying to lie to the public about almost everything that’s going on,” DeSantis said. “When that White House press secretary walks up to that podium and tells you the border is secure, they think you’re stupid. They’re willing to say anything.”
DeSantis then referenced his debate with Newsom on Thursday, saying the California leader lied about his own policies.

“When [Newsom] is on stage with me saying Biden is a great president and he’s clicking on all cylinders, that’s a lie, we know that’s a lie. When he says that California has lower taxes than Florida, I mean, that’s not just a lie, even though people like what’s going on in California already recognize that one of the prices that you pay to live there you pay higher taxes than anywhere else,” DeSantis said.
“People who think we’re dumb won’t let us down. We’re not going to lie and take it. We’re going to stand up for the truth. And ultimately we need the truth in this country,” he added.

He is taxing low-income workers more than we tax millionaires and billionaires. in the state of California,” Newsom said.
DeSantis responded, saying people don’t move from Florida to California to pay less taxes.
