Nintendo has finally started sharing more details about The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and the latest screenshot uploaded by Japanese Zelda Twitter account showed a mysterious… broken trip warning… gacha machine in the game.
Although gacha mechanics are not always welcome in video games with open weapons, there is no need to worry in this case. As explained in our Tears of the Kingdom hands on, these giant machines contain the parts used to assemble cars. Here’s a rough Google translation of the teaser tweet, along with the screenshot Nintendo shared:
“I saw a mysterious structure on Sky Island. It seemed to have a spherical object stuck inside…”
And here’s what we have to say in our Tears of the Kingdom about these mysterious new devices:
“Parts we’ve seen in trailers such as fans and steering platforms can be found scattered around the world in varying numbers, but can also be found in those orb-like gacha machines, and more importantly, can bring it to your free inventory.”
A few other outlets have also shared details about how exactly these machines will work in the game. Here is another illustration (via IGN):
“Why Yes, That Was a Giant Gacha Machine… You can feed these machines a new item called “Zonai Charges” to receive tons of items in return, specifically Zonai devices used for crafting of contraptions. For example, Zonai devices include fans that can power a car, portable cooking pots, flame emitters, and more. So if you’re looking for technology to power your builds, keep an eye out for giant gumball machines this!”
