FIRST ON FOX: Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon responded Wednesday after 131 current and retired District Attorney employees sent a letter harshly criticizing his silence on atrocities committed against Israel by the terrorist group Hamas.
One hundred and thirty-one Los Angeles employees sent a letter to Gascon on Wednesday afternoon saying they were “shocked” by his lack of condemnation against Hamas.
“Your Jewish lawyers and their colleagues are asking you to explain why, since you have commented publicly on almost every newsworthy loss of life around the world, from an outbreak of war to the death of a dear senator of California, you have not seen fit to acknowledge, much less express sympathy for the unthinkable terrorist acts of Hamas against civilians in Israel this past week,” the letter stated.
“And why, when you repeatedly post on social media and practice about the vicarious trauma that remains while supporting victims of crime in Los Angeles, do you not offer the services of the Bureau of Victim Services (BVS) and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) counseling when so many of us have lost friends, relatives, friends of friends, or are simply reeling from generational trauma as children and grandchildren of survivors of earlier antisemitic mass murders? We are lost and awaiting your response,” it added.

After the letter was sent, Gascon emailed the entire Los Angeles District Attorney’s office dealing with the war on Israel.
“Dear DA Family, The brutal terrorist attack in Israel has shaken the world and many are concerned for their safety at home and abroad. I have spent the last few days communicating with contact with faith leaders and law enforcement to express my commitment to ensuring public safety and the members of our community feel protected. There is no justification for these senseless and unimaginably cruel acts of violence against in Israel,” the email read. “My heart goes out to everyone affected.”

“We must stand together to support each other. Please take care of yourself, your loved ones, and your community. Your safety and well-being are of the utmost importance to us,” he added.

“However, one of the worst terror attacks in our lifetime happens over the weekend and we hear nothing,” Lewin said of Gascon.

“You know, I’m an office manager, and I’ve had people call me crying because they feel like this office has abandoned them and doesn’t care about them. And it’s heartbreaking,” Shirn said.
